In 2015 Kasia’s first Online Mosaic Class debuted as a CD release. This was one of the first online mosaic classes on the market and has since been re-released as a fully virtual Online Mosaic Flower Class on this website. Additionally there are two versions of Kasia’s popular Online Mosaic Owl Class – A Regular Edition Class perfect for anyone wanting to experience Kasia’s mosaic process from start to finish as well as the Extended Edition of this class which offers a full immersion with enough content to explore for months. Kasia and Kyle have created this website together to share online courses. The page was designed to encourage people of all backgrounds and skill-levels to give stained glass mosaics a go!
Kasia is a well rounded artist with a background in painting and drawing. She also loves taking photos of nature as well as creating ceramics for her mosaic art. One of her biggest passions in art though has been creating mosaic art with stained glass. She has been committed to the mosaic medium for 14+ years. During that time she has not only developed her own unique style but has become a source of inspiration for many which has eventually led her into teaching.
At the beginning of 2014, Kasia and Kyle began teaching Kasia’s approach to the stained glass mosaic process via in person classes in Colorado. Since then, they have taught hundreds of students in person, having each of them complete their very own mosaic in the allotted class time. In 2015, they took an 8 month road trip across the US, teaching pop-up mosaic classes in many places that they would otherwise never imagined being able to offer a class. It was quite a ride to say the least! More recently the duo decided to focus on Online Education, now having three fully virtual workshops available to students worldwide – the Online Flower Class as well as the Regular Edition Online Owl Class as well as the Extended Edition Online Mosaic Owl Class.
Kasia Polkowska is a stained glass mosaic artist and an entrepreneur. Kyle Cunniff is her collaborative partner in art and in life. He is an artist, a designer and an assistant mosaic instructor. The duo met at and graduated from New York City’s Pratt Institute in 2006 where Kasia earned a BFA in Painting and Kyle earned a BID in Industrial Design. Since completing their studies, the couple has been traveling the country until they settled in Colorado in 2012. They continually push each other in various artistic endeavors and assist one another in many projects, most recently delving into outdoor sculpture and building a sculpture park in the San Luis Valley.

Any artform or creative endeavor takes practice. As the old saying goes if you don’t succeed the first time try, try again. What we learn from working with glass is that when we do it wrong, it breaks. When we do it right, it breaks right 🙂 Practice. Practice. Practice.
This is one medium you really can’t fast forward through. Its a meditation. Respect the glass and it will respect you. Try your best to relax and get into the rhythm of work. If its not working out today, take a breather, stretch, go for a walk and come back refreshed, works every time.
Stick with it. You work hard and you get rewarded. Get excited about the next piece and the next. Working with stained glass mosaics is the constant reward and reminder that each new piece cut, trimmed and shaped makes you better at what you do and your work will show for it.
